Rapseed Oil Steel Coating Gains Attention from World Architecture Festival

Designed by Stockholm-based Utopia Arkitekter, “Skýli” or Skyline, is a prototype emergency hiking cabin meant to serve Reykjavik’s remote areas. It features a sharp-angled roof augmented with GreenCoat color-coated steel from SSAB, a Nordic/U.S.-based steel company. SSAB is always in search of innovative architects who work with sustainable materials and currently offers the only coating product on the market that replaces fossil-based oils with Swedish rapeseed oil. The final result yielded a custom and functional barn from Star Building Systems, constructed by The Steel Building Guys of Santa Rosa, Calif. In addition to acting as the main grapevine storage barn, the new building provides space for Bastoni

The roof of The Pavilion features the Ultra-Lok panel, which is mechanically seamed and will offer excellent weather resistance. Fluropon offers dirt- and stain-resistant properties and durability in all sorts of weather conditions.

The University of Mississippi, founded in 1848 and known for its athletic programs, recently commissioned a $96.5 million basketball arena—The Pavilion at Ole Miss. The multi-purpose facility is home to the men and women’s basketball program and also hosts graduation ceremonies, concerts and other university-wide events. The finishing touches included a roof clad in metal paneling and coated with a rich earth-tone hue. Also, a coating was needed for dirt and stain resistance, and durability in all weather conditions. At 225,000 sq.-ft., the state-of-the-art arena seats 9500 fans, the facility consists of a three-story structural steel frame supporting steel trusses. From the exterior, it wie
